Lewis and Clark Reading response.

Content

• What area of the world/universe is being discussed? What other explorations are mentioned (if any)?
  The western US; Previous British and Spanish explorations. Also mentioned are some activities of members of the corps taken later on.
• When did the events happen?
  It starts in 1806 with the return of Lewis and Clark, and works backwards to explain some of the details of the expedition.
• What questions do you still have about this expedition after listening to/reading this content?
  Though I imagine the latter parts would explain it, part one gives very little information about the expedition itself.
• What parts of the story were most interesting to you?
  In section two, describing the lower ranked men in the Corps of discovery. The story of John Colter and his escape from hostile Indians. Also descriptions of the contributions of Sacagawea, giving due but not overstating her value. I had never heard of most of these people, like George Drouillard.

Form

• What is the form the content is being presented in?
  Divided into sections, such as people on the expedition and their goals.
• What aspects of the form are especially interesting or noteworthy?
  It goes into great depth, by dividing it up, things like the politics can be explored more thoroughly.
• What aspects of the form don’t really work?
  Though it was still easy enough to follow, it would have been easier had the story proceeded chronologically. With how much it jumped between the different characters it was hard to tell background information from the story itself.
• How could this content be made even more interesting or accessible to the general public?
  Tell it as more of a story. Though the great amount of information can be nice, it also makes the story less coherent.
